This week. I magine that you are standing in the metro station in Budapest and one of the metros just comes in with the little burst of wind and then it stops for all the people to come out and then it rushes on out again.

That's what this week felt like.

Basically we have been trying to keep in daily contact with a few of our investigators and it has been the craziest. We have been meeting with them and making them treats and praaing with them and it has been amazing to see the little miracles with them. It is amazing.

This week we held Zone Training. Our beloved President and his wife came to the training and it went well. Everybody was super tight-up at the beginning, but by the end everyone was participating and having a great time.

We also went to Kecskemet this week to do a baptismal interview. It felt so weird to be in that city one last time. Going back to these cities is always so hard for me, because I will miss them so so so much. I realized then, that time is kond of merciless in the fact that things go on without you. But it was good to be back in a place I love. The people there are so stellar and so ready for baptism. I was happy.

Saturday there was a baptism for the Sisters. The lady is super great and they are super duper funny. I was laughing the whole time. The actual baptism was great and a lot of people were positively effected. It was great.

We had a program with one of our programs and basically she said, "The last time I came to a baptism, I felt so happy and I went home and realized I needed to forgive everyone and even though that day I was sick, I felt so happy. I know I need to be here. This is where my place is." She is going to be baptized on April 18th :)

This week one of our investigators took us out to lunch and tried to get the waitress to go on a date with him

ROFLROFL LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I wish that I could explain to all of you how happy I am. How much all of this means to me. How many amazing experienced happen to us on a daily basis. How much I love these people. How sad I am that I am leaving, but how happy I am that these people are doing good.

I am a happy boy. I love Hungary. I love Szeged. I love Elder Whiting. I love all the people.

I am a happy boy.
Imagine me panting,

This week. This week we had P-Day, then Tuesday, then Wednesday, the Zone Conference with Elder Patrick Kearon from the Seventy on Thursday, then a special Mission Leadership Council with Elder Kearon on Friday, then a baptismal interview in Bekescsaba that night, then Saturday, then Sunday, then today.

I can't breathe.

But really, this week has been the greatest. It feels so good to be working hard and running from city to city and place to pace and house to house and yeah.

The Zone Conference was probably the greatest thing that could ever have happened. I got so many answers to my prayers and O learned so much from him. Here is my favorite quote from him from the conference:

"Thank you." x 7,489,376

It was a good time.

Right now, there are so many good things going on in our mission and our zone and our district and our companionship. Our investigators are on fire.

I know this is a lame email, but I will end with an experience from Sunday:

Church had just finished and one of our friends who had just got baptized was talking to the family history specialist to set up a time that they could start looking for her family members. My favorite couple were talked to by all of the branch members and we didn't have to worry who would sit by them or who would talk to them. Another one of our friends came to church for the first time and the branch took such good care of the that she left with a fixed smile on her face. Our other friend brought me all of his cigarettes and drop quit after a blessing from the last Branch President. In that moment, I realized that none of these people need me, but that they had truly been converted unto the Lord.

I am a happy boy :)

Love,
Elder Neely.

Life is crazy. Life is fast. Life requires me to send you all a very lame email. Sorrynotsorry.

I am trying to learn how to appreciate missionary life the ery best I can. Even though it is marha nehez, missionary life is my favorite. There are things that I cannnot explain very well.

Like when we have the suckiest day and we feel helpless and at the end of the day a very nice old woman decides to talk to us and let's us share with her our message.

Or when our investigator learns that to be baptized he needs to give up smoking and drinking and women and instead of saying no, saying that he has a lot of work to do.

When we get to visit a small little city and meet a member who wants to be a missionary so bad, that he goes streeting and tracting with them.

Having your investigators tell you that they truly want to be baptized for the right reason. Realizing that they are truly converted.

Giving missionaries hugs, because of the hardness of life.

The members banding together to help other members who have no support from home.

Getting asked so many questions about our religion, you get lost in the swirl.

Helping people rip up laminate from an apartment flood and seeing into their history and past.

Having a last minute program go through and actually being able to meet with them and teach their friend.

Realizing the members' opinions of missionaries have changed.

Having an inactive member come to church for the first time in seven years.

Seeing someone step into the waters of baptism ready and excited.

I can't tell you how much I love this.

I know I say that every week, but it is getting crazier and crazier as time goes by.

We have absolutely 0 time to breathe or sigh. Or sleep for that matter. This week we went up to Budapest for interviews. It was so great. We seriously have the best mission President. He's great. We just talked. It was great.

This week we have been working with one of our investigators who will be baptized! The baptism is going to happen on the 7th of March, this Saturday! She is doing so well. In Sunday School she was asked to give the closing prayer and she said the sweetest prayer I have ever heard. It was so awesome.

Last week a woman came to us in tears asking us to help her fix her problems. She said that she didn't know what to do or where to go. We gave her a blessing, gave her some scriptures to read and told her that if she turned to the Lord, she would be okay. This week she came back with a smile on her face and a bounce in her step. She said, "Ever since I left our program last week, I have felt a peace and comfort that is unbelievable. I have never been so calm and happy. I was able to put aside my problems and fears and able to sleep and move forward. I know that something you guys did helped me. What can I do to feel this way always?" You could say we were thrilled. She is doing awesome.

Another crazy experience of the week: We had finished a program with a couple we are teaching and we went home on the trolley. A man gets on at one stop and he is obviously acting weird. He comes up to us and starts just saying all sorts of hulyeseg. We get off the trolley, then he does as well. He goes in the other direction, so we think all is well. Then we look back and he is running at us. So I start freaking out and Elder Whiting is just like, "Be cool bro, I got this." When the guy gets close to us, Elder Whiting stops, turns around and says, "What do you want?" The guy says more crazy stuff and Elder Whiting says, "Turn around and walk away." And the man turned around and walked away. So, yeah. Elder Whiting is a Bad A and we were on all sorts of an adrenaline rush.

This week, we have also seen so many miracles. It is rather ridiculous, because I only wrote down maybe one or two, but there is so so so so so many. The Lord really does enable us to do things that we can't do on our own. And for that, I am very, very grateful.

I love you all. Keep doing good things!

Sok szeretettel,
Neely Elder.

I am really begining to freak out a little bit about going home, but I am also forgetting about it for now and focusing on the work. Because at least that brings me peace and stuff.

My biggest concern this week is the same as most weeks: HOW WILL I HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO DO ALL OF THIS? But it will all work out. I hope. LOL.

It is so cool to see the hand of the Lord in our lives. I think that is something way important. When we constantly have spiritual experiences in our lives, that is how we keep our testimony ever-growing.

Tender mercies of this week. One of our investigators not being able to meet, but getting a haircut from her that led to a super good Gospel discussion. One of our investigators expressing her desire to get baptized. The members coming together to help her on the road to baptism. The member that was in the hospital getting better, despite all odds. An investigator coming out of nowhere asking us for help. Getting answers to my questions. It was pretty cool.

The other day, we had a little discussion while having companionship study. We read 2 Nephi 31:17 and it says that after we have entered the gate of baptism, then we receive the Holy Ghost and then we receive a remission of sins. We looked up what remission means and it has a four-pronged definition: 1. The process of remitting something. 2. Forgiving or pardoning. 3. To refrain from exacting or enforcing. 4. To give or gain relief. In English: It is a process. A process of receiving forgiveness and becoming perfect. So if we are baptized and we get the Holy Ghost, then we start this process and if we are in the process, we are doing okay.

Biggest challenge this week was when an investigator came in, sat down, told us how her mother is on the brink of death, how she had no job, had no life, did not know what to do and told us to tell her what to do. That was hard. That was hard.

Investigators are doing really well. They are all progressing towards baptism really really well. We are proud of then. Thank you for your prayers on their behalf. That means so so so much. It helps them so much. Thank you for that.

I love you so much! Have a great week!

Love
Neely Elder.

This week has felt like an eeetttteeerrrnnnniiiiitttyyy and a moment all at the same time. So many things happened and the whole week was filled with activities of some sort. So things were hopping.

Everyone here has been getting sick. We have given a member or two a blessing and we have made some get well treats and stuff for errbody. This illness has been racking people up the wiz-wang. And guess what? WE GOT IT TOO. Thank you. It has made these last few days the worst ever. But we are pushing through it, so that is okay.

This week we have been working with one of our investigators that we have met with since the first day I got here in Szeged. He has been having some struggles with getting his answer. So we first had a program with him, where we discussed the Holy Ghost and how we can recognize His promptings and stuff. Then in the second program, he was a lot more humble and quiet and accepted a baptismal date! We will be having a week with him from the 2nd of March until the 8th were we are dedicating him and us to this cause and on the 8th he will decide whether or not to get baptized on the 14th. Pretty cool, huh? We have a lot of faith for him, but please pray with us!

Outside of that, we had Zone Training. That was fun. Our Zone is super legit and everyone was so down to help us out and work with us. We had it all set up and everyone was so down to follow our goal and our training. It was fantastic. We are going to be seeing some insane miracles. We also ate pizza.

So this week has been good. And sick. But the theme of this week has been stepping. Stepping up. Taking the next step. I have been reading the Book of Daniel. And in that book, multiple times, him or his three friends always step in faith. Then they receive the blessings. Then they receive the witness and confirmation. They act in faith and then leave the rest up to the Lord.

I love you all. Peace and Blessings.

Neely Elder.

I am doing good. I am freaking out a little bit about the fact that I am going home in some 50+days, but I am doing good. These last few months have been so crazy. I have become a completely different person. There was a time that I decided that I wanted to change. Then the Lord helped me. He sent me to the best people in the world and they all helped me so much to change and become better.
Elder Whiting is the best companion I could have asked for. We are working so so so hard. I never knew I could be so in love with something. I love this place so much. This has become home. These streets and buildings and paths. These people. They go by and I love them. I will miss them. They have become my family. I never knew that my heart could be stretched to such limits.

The biggest challenge thus far this week was the one that it always is: myself. I have been learning that all problems basically stem from ourselves. We have our will and our pride and we always seem to focus on ourselves. When we overcome that and make our wills to match the will of God, then things start to work out. But, it is a process :) day by day we can get better. Please read the talk from last General Conference entitled "Free to Act for Themselves" by D. Todd Christofferson.

The biggest success this week. We have a couple that are going to be baptized. They have a son and we finally got him to sit in with us and have a discussion about prayer, so yay for improvement!

Our investigators are doing really, really good. They are progressing so well. We have four people that have decided to be baptized. Four. I wish I could explain in words how much that is. How crazy it is that these people are making this step. It is amazing.

Tender mercy of this week: On Tuesday one of our programs cancelled and that meant that we had to go tracting for a couple of hours in the night in the middle of the city. The people here hate that and people are usually very rude. But a young couple let us in and we talked about the Restoration and the Book of Mormon for like two hours. It was so great.

How have I seen the hand of the Lord in my life. This is such a huge thing. I have been doing this thing, where I write down my question that I have and then I go and study. The amount of answers I have received have been baffling. It is like He wants to make a point of being able to give me answers or something hahaha. It is great. It is also cool serving with Whiting Elder, that when we give all that we can give to Him, He just gives and gives and gives in return.

This next week we are having Zone Training and we have big plans for our Zone. I am so excited to see these people start to change and become better. I love these missionaries so much. They are good people and I am so proud of them.

Sorry that I have 0 pictures this week, I am working on it ;)

This week has been great. And short. And fast. And long. All at the same time. We are doing all sorts of things and it is madness. But we are having a great time.

We began this week by making plans for this transfer and basically, it will be the best transfer of my mission. This place is about to blow. I am very excited for it all.

This week one of the members got put in the hospital, so we have been visiting them there. Hungarian hospitals are pretty sketch, but it was a nice little experience. Also, Sunday was really, really good. I had a wonderful time and the Spirit was strong as we all fasted and prayed together. So that was nice (someone please cringe with the anticlimax of this last statement).

Also, this week the Branch Presidency changed! The old Branch President was released and a new one was instated, so that should be fun. It was cool to see his face when they called him up. It was a good time.

This sounds terrible, but nothing else really happened this week. I forgot to bring all of my notes and stuff for emailing so this is going to sound really short and lame and jank, but whatever. Also, I don't even have pictures, because I didn't take any. Sorry, this really is a lame email.

Scripture thought that I think you might like: Alma 37:17. God keeps his promises, we just have to be patient.

Well, I love you all so much and I hope you have the best week of ever.

I. Am. Staying. In. Szeged.

Yes.

This means that I will be here until I go home. Elder Whiting will be my last companion. This will be my last city and all things will be fantastic. I am looking forward to this transfer so much. There will be miracles my friends. There will be miracles and magic. I am so happy, because I know this is what God wants me to do. I am going to sprint to the finish and I am going to be happy.

As far as this week, know that it was exhausting and super duper fun. We had a bunch of people and families that came out of no where and decided they wanted to be baptized. Awesome. We can help with that :)

This week I was trying to work with some problems and questions that I had and I received the answer. It was very simple, but very powerful.

Alma 36:1 "Inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall prosper in the land"

He doesn't say if ye keep the commandments, He says inasmuch. So, how much are you keeping the commandments?

Love you all so much and I hope you are having the times of your lives.

Sorry, this will be the fastest email ever. Sorrynotsorry.

Things:
1. Our investigators are rocking it. They are rocking all sorts of socks and everything. They are progressing and making a lot of changes, which is hard for them, but they are doing good. We have three people that are on track to be baptized and they are surrounded with so many miracles it is insane. We love them so much.
2. So my actual birthday was super good as well. I have had so many cakes this week I never want cake again. It was super nice though. I also got a super cool wallet thing from a cool member here! Cool.
3. Went on splits this week with Elders Weaver and Watson. It was fun to be back with them again and it was super crazy. They have both progressed so much and that is awesome! They have gotten so much better from the last time I was with them.
4. We had Zone Training this week. That was so good. Our zone is on fire and the training went super well. We also ordered Indian food out so that was nice.
5. We also met with a new girl and she accepted a baptism challenge the first program and a baptism date in the second program. Crazy cool!
6. We went on a trip to Hodmezovasarhely on Saturday. That was fun! We met with a bunch of members and investigators there. It was fun. But kind of tiring.
7. Sunday was beautiful. We found a family. Life is beautiful.

I am a happy boy. I love you all so much. There is still so much for me to do here. I love you all so much. I will let you know what happens with Transfers next week :)

All the loves,

First off, I just wanted to tell everyone thank you for the birthday wishes. It really and truly made my day (s/o azoknak, akik tudnak hasznalni Google Fordito, es azoknak akik viselike Csillagok Haboruja polot, es azoknak akik lognak a szekrenyben, es azoknak akik kuldenek nekem uzenetet a szulinapomra). You are all the best.

This week has been so so so miraculous. Like, I can't even. We have seen so many miracles and it has been the best week of my mission so far.

We are teaching this family. They are so cute and so good and they have experienced so many miracles. So many. It honestly makes my day to just be with them. Last night we met and we asked them how they know these things are true and the woman said, "one night I prayed and asked God to give me a sign. To let me know if I should continue on this path. That night I received my answer. I know I am where I need to be." You could say I was happy.

Other things from this week:
* A less active member telling us he never wants to meet with us again. Okay. Cool
* Talking about eternal marriage with the above family and them starting to plan how they are going to travel there.
* A man telling us that rubbing tea-tree oil on your face will clear up our acne. Thanks?
* Streeting an American and his Turkish friend. WE WANT THEM TO BE OUR FRIENDS.
* We had a party this week. As in, the branch put on a party and it was popping. It was crazy. But super fun and we actually got a lot of success from it. Super cool. We didn't dance, but the temptation was real!

So that was basically my week. The only other thing is that this week, we made pumpkin pie from scratch.....it was a success.

Love you all from the bottom of my heart,

Neely Elder.

Things:

Pre-Transfer: We visited a couple of people and said goodbye to some peoples and played some games with the other missionaries (hiszen it was New Years Adam).

Transfers: Hung out with some of my beloveds and ate lunch and did a little shop-di-shop. Picked up Elder Whiting and dealt with the horrifying thoughts of luggage (I hate luggage).

Post-Transfer:

Wednesday Afternoon: Went home. Talked to Elder Whiting. He is probably the most humble and Christ-like person I have ever met. It is going to be amazing serving with him. Then we joined the other missionaries for some din-din and some games and then unpacking and then opening vegyes letters then sleeeeeeeeeeeeep.

The First Day of the Year of our Lord Two-Thousand and Fifteen: This day was full of chilling and naps and writing letters and then we had a program with an investigator named "T". He is the coolest. We like him a lot. So classy and way accepting. He just can't meet until forever. Gaz.

Fancy Friday: Went running. It was icy, but somehow, I survived (still marveling at how). This day I said to Elder Whiting, "These last couple of days have been pretty slow, but today will be normal Szeged day." What proceeded was the most unusual day to hit me in Szeged so far. Had a program with a new member and he proceeded to act as though he were high. Great. Then went to another program with a member. Didn't let us in, instead he decided we could talk about the gospel as we walked to the store to get his groceries. Nice. Went to find another member and the house didn't exist. Wonderful. Went to our next program, which was actually just us giving a blessing to the Sisters' investigator. Special. The last one actually was really nice. And District meeting was phenomenal.

Saturday or in other words DOOMSDAY: We started off this day on a good note: Sports Nap in the snow. NBD. N...BD. It was pretty fun. A member brought a pineapple with sunglasses and told us to attack the pineapple. Cool. Then we had a nice program that didn't show up later. Then after that we went to a program we had planned. We couldn't find the blasted street (first we thought she said Szilleri Sugar Ut, but she was actually meaning Szilleri Sor). So we get caught in this little neighborhood and BAM. I ran into someone. I, (Elder) Levi Jordan Neely, have crashed a mission vehicle.
No one was hurt, the car isn't even that bad, but the cops were called and things were evaluated and now I have a fine for 15,000 Hungarian Forint. LOLOLOLOLOL. This whole thing means a couple of things. 1. I can no longer drive a mission vehicle. Ever. 2. Because Elder Whiting doesn't have his license yet, we will no longer be able to drive at all. You could say it is a bit devastating, seeing that almost all of our investigators live about twenty minutes away by car. BUT. We are trying to be positive about this. So we are getting excited to learn our way around the public transportation system. Yay.

Vasarnap: We had church. Church was so good. We have a family that is investigating and the mom is trying to quit smoking and the testimonies were for sure directed at her. Then during the third hour one of the members took her out and just had a heart to heart with her and it totally changed her perspective and gave her such strength. Then afterwards, we gave her a blessing and it helped her. It came from God and she felt the Spirit. I have been thinking a lot about the scripture in Moroni 7:35

"And now, my beloved brethren, if this be the case that these things are true which I have spoken unto you, and God will show unto you...that they are true...has the day of miracles ceased?"

My friends, the day of miracles has not ceased :)
We finished the week with biscuits and gravy and brownies.

I am a happy boy. I love my life and I am so grateful that I am a missionary. Keep doing the great things that you are doing. Keep living the good lives you are living. I love you all so much and I am so blessed to be your friends and your family and. I love you :)

Sok szeretettel,

Neely Elder.

Well.

Let's start off with the good news.

The Holidays were FANTASTIC. Every single day, we spent with someone that we loved. That was awesome. We got some very traditional Hungarian food (Halaszle FOUR DAYS IN A ROW) and I have never wanted to not eat so bad in my life.

Spying was great. Seeing the family is fantastic as always.

Today is transfers.

I HATE transfers!

Mostly, because I hate change. Why does change have to suck so much, you know? I was in the shower and I heard Elder Nyman talking on the phone to someone, and BANG, I knew something was happening. I came out in my towel (LOL) and I talked to President. Elder Nyman is going AP and I am getting Elder Whiting as my new companion.

Initial Reaction: Absolute joy at staying in Szeged. I love Szeged with all my heart and soul and I am so glad to be staying. Especially because we have so many great things going on. But absolute devastation that Elder Nyman is leaving. He has only been with me for five weeks. Gosh. I really like Elder Nyman and he has helped me become such a better missionary. For that, I am so grateful.

Post-Initial Reaction: I have to go to Budapest tomorrow. I have to cancel all of our programs we had planned, because we were 100% sure that we would be staying. We have to say goodbye and pack and. Sad.

But in all reality, like this will be okay. Elder Whiting is super awesome. I have heard so many good things about him, so I am excited for that. I am also so happy to stay in Szeged, it will just be weird.

This transfer has been the start of something new. Something fantastic. I am excited to get to work with Elder Whiting and just go HAM. It will be great. Thank you all for your support and love and emails and everything. I love each and everyone of you. Keep doing the things that you are doing great things.

Love you all lots,

Neely Elder

On so many levels. I'll just talk about some cool things.

We went to a thing here called Para Park. You go into a room and they lock you in and then you have to figure your way out. There are a bunch of puzzles and traps and stuff. Suuuuuuuuper fun. It was a blast! Plus it was cool to just hang out with friends.

We went on splits this week with the missionaries from Kecskemet. Elder Day went with Elder Nyman and I went with a new missionary named Elder Haroldson. It was actually really fun. Also, everyone has similar taste in music to me now. As Sister Carle would say: "boo." Also, he plays the mandolin. What are the odds?

Also, one of our investigators finished reading the Book of Mormon and now has started the Doctrine and Covenants. He is now at SECTION 83. He read all of that in literally like five or six days. Crazy.

So randomly one day we got a text from the AP's asking if we could go on splits in Buda the next day. So we did LOL. I got to spend my time with Elder Gaytan :) he is the greatest. I like him a lot. We also visited a family who,is Serbian, and all of them speak Serbian, English, French, Hungarian and Spanish on a fluent level. I mean, really? It's like a slap in the face.

This week we did a kind of consecration week, where we really tried to dedicate everything to the Lord. It was really cool to see the outcomes of it. We are teaching a couple and we wanted them to accept a baptismal date. We worked all week to make everything perfect and when the time came and we had the program, it didn't work out perfectly, but it sure as heck went really well :) they want to go down this path together, which means that it will take a little longer, but they are so stellar and so willing to help each other, that I know all will be well :) Plus they both came to church this week! Yay for progress :)

This week I have been re-reading my journals and it is crazy to see the changes that I have gone through and the different way that I look at life and the world. I love so many people. There are so many people that I love and miss and care about. I love you so much. So much. You guys should go and watch the "He is the Gift" video, because the music is stuck in my head right now and it feels appropriate for the situation.

I love you all so much. Keep doing the great things that you are doing.
That kind of sounds like a wedding or something LOL. How are things going? Things are dandy here in the Szeged, Hungary lands. We are loving life! This week has been phenomenal.
This last Monday, we went with the Sisters and had a family home evening where we drove around looking at Christmas lights and talking. It was super fun. We found probably only five houses with any kind of lights up at all, but it was fun to just spend some time together.
This week we started meeting with a bunch of people from our English Class. This brought us some really cool experiences...and some awkward ones. We met with a nice guy that is really humble and wants to learn more about God. We met with a nice older lady that said, she really needs the Gospel in her life right now. Those were pretty cool. And then we met with our landlord and that was just kind of awkward from the start LOL.
We are also teaching this couple. At the beginning, we weren't really that sure if they were super interested. But then she came to church and loved it so much. She said that she wants to follow this path, but can't do it without her par. So we are working on getting him on the bandwagon as well. Our programs have been getting better and better! It is great.
We also met with the guy that just got baptized. SO. GOOD. Literally this is what he said when he first came into the program: "Okay, so like how can I get the priesthood, and when can I serve a mission, what should I start doing to prepare for a mission, when can I go to the Temple?" I about died. He is so cool! He came to one of our programs and he was such a big help. He has such a strong testimony and it is super awesome to be able to be a part of his conversion. Even if it is just kind of sitting there and watching him grow.
This week we also went up to MLC. It is always super fun to be with a bunch of the great people in this mission and to be able to work together and discuss how to help out our missionaries. This week we talked about our goals for this year. It was phenomenal. We prayed to ask for his help and to decide how to move forward this next year. It was amazing to feel prompted and guided by The Lord through the Holy Ghost as to what we should do. It was awesome.
This last little while we have been trying to use the "He is the Gift" cimu video. It has been awesome to see the results of all of that. Our finding has become a lot more effective and we have been seeing a lot of people open up more to us during the Christmas Season. Yeah buddy! We love Christmas! People are so much more happy during this season and a lot more accepting. Especially when we try to help people remember the true meaning of Christmas. Super fun.
We had a program with one of our investigators that wants to get baptized. This week he finished the Book of Mormon. We read with him the last chapter and prayed about it together. As we were about to pray to ask if it was true, he finally talked about his concerns and how he is afraid of getting an answer. So we are now much more equipped to help him out. He is seriously such a great guy and he really wants to know the truth. So we are praying for him and hope to see miracles.
We also had to take our car into get it serviced. Because of some crazy paperwork problems, we had to sit in the dealership for like two hours, and pay for it. It was pretty expensive! LOL. I forgot about things like that. Cars cost. LOL.
Last night, we went out Caroling! It would have been super great except for: 1. It was raining. Quite a lot. So when we tried to sing outside, no one had brought umbrellas and our books and instruments and jazz were getting wet. 2. When we tried to go tracting with singing, we literally got people calling the cops on us, because apparently no one wants to be happy during Christmas. Especially when it is late (we started at 5 pm. apparently that is super late?). However, it was fun and it felt great to sing about the Savior.
So this week has been fantastic. We have seen a ton of progress with our investigators and we are trying our best to help these people out. This week, we are expecting miracles. We are doing all that we can to allow The Lord to bless us. Something I have learned this week: Heavenly Father works miracles, according to our faith. So all we really have to do is make sure our desires are righteous and then call down the powers of heaven, if we have faith, it is not only possible, but it will happen.
I love you all and hope you all have a fantastic week. Go help some people and share the Gospel!
Love,
Neely Elder.
I love you all so much! This week has been absolutely insane. It felt like a day and also like seven long months all at once.
I said goodbye to Elder Rae and also Elder Peterson. Which was pretty hard. I miss them a lot. But, they live on, so that's nice :)
My new companion is Elder Nyman. He is from Texas originally, but lives in Utah. He is two transfers below me. He speaks great Hungarian and is such a good missionary. It blows my mind.
On Wednesday, Elder Rae and I packed up the car, drove to Szolnok to help with some luggage there (because one of the Sisters got her appendix out and couldn't really carry anything), drove to Szeged, dropped off things, picked up more luggage, tried to drive back to Szeged, got a little lost (LOL), got home, helped the other missionaries in Szeged move apartments and then fitted our investigator for baptismal clothes, then sleep. SO LONG. That day was so exhausting. I was done with that day.
The next couple of days were just programs and chats with investigators and stuff. It was good and it was fun to get to know Elder Nyman a little better.
Saturday was "V's" baptism. He is seriously the coolest person in the world. The baptism was absolutely perfect. Everything was so nice. The music, the talks, everything. We got changed. Before we went into the water, I gave him a hug and then we walked into the water and it was super cold and then I had to say the prayer twice, because I messed up the words :) and then it was over and we were changing and he said, "I am so happy. I could only be happier if Sister Kennedy (the first missionary who taught him) could have been here." It was absolutely perfect.
Sunday was the confirmation and it went well...except for the fact that the person that was supposed to confirm him and the back-up plan were gone (because his wife gave birth, so that's nice). So one of the missionaries here confirmed him. It was excellent.
Outside of that, one of our investigators came to church for the first time and I am really excited for her and her elet tars. It should be really good.
So, yeah. Life is different now here in Szeged, but it is good. Life is good. Our investigators are doing really well. Doing well and living life.
I love you all so much. Keep doing all the good things that you do.
Love,
Neely Elder.
This week has been super....sad. Good, but sad. We had a bunch of programs and things, but we all said farewell to Elder Rae. I am going to miss him a super ton, but he is off to crazy good things.
With that being said, TRANSFERS HAPPENED. I am staying here in Szeged and getting Elder Nyman as my companion! I have heard cool things about him, so it should be super cool. I am excited.
This week, I have two highlights: 1. The Open House for the new chapel here in Szeged went SO WELL. We had such a blast and we got so much success out of it. So many people were interested and so many people want to meet with us. YAY. 2. We got fed by two members this week and they are my favorite. IDK how to explain it, but it was so happy and I had the best time and the food was delicious.
Sorry this sucks, but I have to go! Time is flying so fast. I love you all so much,
Love,
Neely Elder.
One of the sweet members sent me a video that Elder Neely was asked to make for the Open House. It is on YouTube, just type it in exactly and it should work. Sorry I tried to set it up as a link but I couldn't get it to work.
Go to YouTube, then type: Egy Mormon Vagyok, es Boldog Vagyok!
It was fun to see and hear him play again!!
The weeks have begun to blur and speed up and that freaks me the crap out! This week has been great and I am doing good. Our investigators are on fire! We didn't have a baptism last week, but we might have one this week! Things are looking so good! Transfers will happen next week, so I will be emailing on Tuesday next week. Elder Rae goes home next week and I am so sad :( He is one of my favorite companions and I am just not looking forward to saying goodbye. And Elder Hansen will be coming home with him.
Sounds like Sunday was crazy town for you! But that is good. Sunday was so good here. But I am getting ahead of myself.
This week we just had a bunch of programs with people and all of them were good. There was a missionary that went around the country with his parents, and he came to Szeged, but he didn't visit this cute old couple that we meet with, so they called us over and fed us what would have been his dinner. LOL IT WAS SO GOOD HE MISSED OUT. Seriously, I have never had such good Marha Porkolt. So amazing.
This week we also got to see a handball match. One of our less active members is a handball coach. So he invited us to come see one of his games. It was actually super cool, because all of a sudden he made so much more sense. Idk, it was cool.
This week we also went to a five-star restaurant. It. Was. Amazing.
This week we also gave a Zone Training. It went so well! It just worked fantastically. So cool. Our missionaries are so stellar it hurts. So good.
We also went on splits with the AP's this week. I went with Elder Hansen. St. George stories abounded and we met with a lot of the people that he used to meet with as well, so it was cool. Good times in the Szeged lands.
On Saturday we went to a funeral for one of our investigators that died this past week. It was....weird. His wife is Nazarene and Nazarene funerals are weird. And depressing. And involve probably 20 hymns. I love hymns, but like, that was too much. So that was weird.
Then Sunday .
I have always heard and read the phrase, "fullness of joy" and this Sunday, I experienced it.
Last week we got to go to Stake Conference in Budapest. We woke up suuuuuuuper early and went with all the missionaries, and a bunch of members and one of our investigators. The bus ride was such a party. But then we got to Budapest AND EVERYONE THAT I LOVE WAS THERE! So much joy. I got to meet with all of my companions and all of my investigators and members from Szekesfehevar, Kaposvar, Kecskemet, and I was so happy. One of the people I baptized got his patriarchal blessing and just got the Melchizedek Priesthood and became an Elder and everything was perfect. There is a new Stake President, and the talks were so good and I got to meet President Patrick Kearon (who literally is the best ever) and I am so happy. It was the best day of my mission. After we got home I got to talk to some more of my favorite people on the phone and I just can't even describe the joy I felt.
The church is true.
This is so real.
I am so happy.
I love you.
Neely Elder.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08339393670545503597noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248986059045451746.post-84086558154944268332014-11-19T23:33:00.001-08:002014-12-02T22:55:27.559-08:0011-10-14Haho.
This week has been pretty crazy. All over the place and sadly, we don't have much to show for it. PSYCH. This week two of our investigators decided to get baptized! Yay! Monday was pretty relaxed and fun and what not. But Tuesday we had so many things to do, it is not even funny. We met with seven people and all of the programs went great. This one couple are quitting smoking and they are doing so well now! I am super proud of them. This week we also went up to Budapest for MLC. It was great! So many ideas and thoughts are being thrown around it is great. My favorite thing is that now, there is going to be a bigger focus on Faith in Christ as the basis of our lives and our missions. It was super good. Then we had interviews it was great! THEN I DROVE A CAR AROUND BUDAPEST I HAVE MY LICENSE NOW TERRIFYING BUT SZEGED DRIVING IS NOT THAT BAD. On Thursday we went on splits with Elder Meek and Elder Depallens! They are so cool. It was fantastic. Splits are always kind of crazy. In the fact that cool things always happen. During this transfer one of our cool investigators finally decided he was ready to be baptized! We are super excited for him and he is planning on getting baptized on November 29th. Also, I met with a man who lives on a farm and he is SO. COOL. I can't even explain. He is super cool. Yesterday we went to help him with his farm a little bit and afterwards they made us food. Did I mention they are Krishna's.? Yeah. I guess I am meant to meet a lot of Krishna's. LOL So, yeah. This week has been great. We had fantastic lessons with our investigators and we have seen so many miracles. OH AND I HAVE PICTURES FROM THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. Sorry, this is all over the place. I love you all so much! Have a great week!
xoxo,
I don't even know what that means, I just know it might have to do with time being weird and stuffs.
We had a program last Monday with these people and they dropped us and they got mad at us for trying to meet with them on Sunday...but they were the ones that called us to meet on Sunday...and then they made fun of us for being virgins LOLOLOL #missionarylife
The rest of this week was full of programs and people and fun. So many things. We met with "A" again. He is so cool. His only real concern is that he still has not gotten an answer from God about the Book of Mormon or anything really. Which is kind of a problem. So we are trying to help him realize how he can recognize the Holy Ghost.
One thing I think is crazy about being a missionary is that people trust us with the strangest things. A man told us all about his different affairs and things that he had done during his whole marriage and the awkward part is that he is like 60. It was just so awkward and I think the weirdest thing is that I will miss that when I go home I think. LOL. #missionarylife
This week the Branch Missionary Leader asked me to make a kind of music video thing for the New Branch Open House. So I went and we made a video with me playing a hymn on the violin and the organ and the piano and stuff. It actually turned out pretty good and it was a lot of fun to do :)
We also had lunch at a members house. IT WAS A FIVE COURSE MEAL OF SO MUCH FOOD I COULDN'T EVEN MOVE OR FEEL NORMAL AFTERWARDS IT WAS SO DELICIOUS THOUGH.
Friday was crazy. We met with so many people that it was crazy. I still look back at it and am baffled that we were able to do it. Crazy. We met with Five people in less than four hours and all of those people lived in crazy far places from each other. Yikes. But it was great and we felt super accomplished.
This week we -as a district - fasted together to find one person ready for baptism. It was super cool. We were all in. We all worked together and we just had faith. And it worked. It worked in a way we weren't expecting. We didn't find a person that said that they wanted to get baptized, but we found people and we all re-realized how much we love being missionaries. It was kind of a weird thing, but it all inspired us. I don't know. It was a miracle. I think the things that are the most beautiful are those that cannot be described. They're so special that they only make sense to you.
I am feeling all the things right now. I love being a missionary. I love life. I love that I get to help people. I almost feel selfish being a missionary. I love the experiences that I get and the changes I get to see. It is such a blessing to me.
Love,
I am doing absolutely fantastic. I had a glorious week! The work is going absolutely swell here in Szeged. We have a ton of investigators right now. All of them are doing well. The only thing that is a little annoying is that all of them are ready for baptism-they know everything, they keep the commandments, everything-they just have one thing that holds them back. Which is sometimes annoying as a missionary. My favorite investigator right now (is it allowed to have a favorite investigator?). We actually met before this once in Kecskemet and he is seriously so cool and stellar and so prepared and so classy. Seriously, he dresses so nice. But he has a baptismal date for November 15th and things are looking good for that! This last week we taught the Word of Wisdom and he was like, "Okay, so this means I have to stop drinking coffee and tea, right?" LOL. Right. And after that he has not :)
This last week we have seen a lot of crazy fun stuff.
We have been meeting with this member a couple of times (like she gave me a haircut and at church etc.) and she came to one of our programs with another investigator. Afterwards she takes us to this inactive member and was just so cool in the program. It was crazy, just realizing how good the Hungarians are at missionary work. IDK, it was really cool.
This week one of our less active members shined our shoes for us :,) it was so nice. He's really cool and it was just such an act of kindness, IDK. Right after that, another less active member took us out to lunch. It's like, why are people so nice to us?
This week was also Elder Rae's birthday, so I made him French Toast in the morning with a candle and Birthday song and everything. Then that night I took him out to dinner. THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD, I THINK IT CHANGED MY LIFE. I had Camembert cheese with blackberry sauce. Who knew, that that could be so amazingly delicious. DEFINITELY NOT ME.
This week English Class started again. Guess how many people came to our class? 1. LOLOLOLOL. It was a holiday here and the only person that came was like an 85 year old neni. It was super funny and she was way nice.
Friday was a super good day too. We had soooooo many people to meet with it was cray cray. One of our programs was with this couple that aren't married, but they live together. This week we talked about Temples and eternal marriage and then baptism and the Holy Ghost. It was so amazing to feel the Spirit enter the room as we testified of those things and they felt it as well and it was just so...good :)
Sunday was just great. Church was great. Life is great :)
I love being here, I love being a missionary, I love my comp, I love my city, I love everything :)
Things are splendid. I am loving life and our investigators are awesome as well! This week we had 6 people at church, four or which had never been before. THAT IS HUGE. It was so cool and they loved it. One of our investigators is going to meet with us a ton this week and we are super excited for it, because HE IS GETTING BAPTIZED I AM SO HAPPY HE IS SO CLASSY AND COOL. He's the best.
This week some funnies:

A ladybug flew onto my arm. Elder Rae ATE IT OFF OF MY SLEEVE IT WAS SO FUNNY AND ALSO A LITTLE TERRIFYING I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE, BUT I SURVIVED.

A couple that we were going to meet. We were late by like thirty minutes and they didn't answer their doorbell or their phone, so we went into their building and knocked on their door and she answered. She told us to sit down and then went into the kitchen and told her husband that we were here. THEN NO ONE TALKED TO US FOR THIRTY MINUTES. It was so awkward I am dying. But it was so funny. LOL.

This week I went back to Kecskemet! It was so fun. I was so happy to see all of the people that I had taught and see their progress. Lot's of love in Kecskemet.

I can't describe to you in words how fast this week has gone and how fast life is going. There are so many things that I want to tell you, but there is never enough time! I hope all is well with you guys! I love you lots!

This week has been fantastic and it sounds like it was at home as well! I LOVE WEDDINGS. I am super sad that I missed it, but but I am sending something to the newlyweds. Bless them.
This week has all been kind of revolving around moving buildings. Here in Szeged, we are getting a new Branch House and let me tell you THE NEW ONE IS SERIOUSLY THE CRAZIEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN HUNGARY IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING AND THE BIGGEST ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN IT IS AMAZING IT HAS A WATER FOUNTAIN THAT SHOOTS OUT ICE COLD WATER IT LITERALLY MADE ME CRY I AM NOT EVEN JOKING TEARS WERE STREAMING DOWN MY FACE IT IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BUILDING AND IT IS MASSIVE AND I HAVE PICTURES I WILL SEND THEM AND IT IS IN SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PART OF TOWN AND I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH. So. Yeah.
This week, that also means that we got out of the old branch house. This Sunday we had church with no piano. Probably the most awkward church I have ever attended. Crazy, crazy quiet and awkward. But it was such a good church. I got so much out of it and we also had a new investigator come. He stayed for all of the meetings and it all was directed at him I think. It was so good. I just got so much out of church this week...it was just really good :)
This week we also went on our first "Blitzes", where we both go to another city to "train" the missionaries there. This week we went to Bekescsaba, and of course I am an idiot and I did not take any pictures. LOL. But let me tell you, the missionaries here are absolutely stellar. It was great. Also, this week we got to talk to President about our missionaries and I just gained such an appreciation for our mission president. He really cares about us. We also got to go up to Budapest for Missionary Leadership Council. I got to visit with some of my friends and it was good fun. I love those gents. Good days.
The last cool thing from this week, is that we randomly went out looking for some inactive members to meet. One of them came out and started shouting at us (she is like a 20 year old girl), "What are you doing? Why did they send you? How did they know I was home?" Turns out, she had been living in Tanzania for the last year or so and she had gotten back the day which is just crazy. It was good to talk to her and it reminded me of a quote from a man named Gyorgy Zoltan: "Never forget, that God is looking for us." God is looking for us. Even when we don't want to be found, he is looking for us and he cares about us and he wants to find us. Sometimes we want to hide and run, but he never gives up. Something Elder Rae and I talk about a lot is how every soul is important to God. He loves every single one without bias and loves them perfectly and understands them perfectly. Billions upon trillions upon google souls he loves, yet he loves us personally. I can't wrap my head around it, but I am so grateful for it.
I love you guys. I can't love every single soul yet, but I sure do love you all. Do good things. Keep being amazing and I love you.
This week has been great! We had a fantastic time. We got to meet with some pretty awesome people. Bearing testimony and teaching people about the Gospel. It just makes my day so much better :)
We also had the opportunity to go up to Budapest to have Zone Conference. It was fantastic. I learned so much and we just had the best trainings. Speaking of trainings, we had to give one! Yikes! It was pretty terrifying. But it turned out alright.
Getting to watch General Conference this week was also super good. So many good talks. This was my last General Conference in the field and we watched all of the sessions in Hungarian, but I got a lot out of the talks. Yay for understanding boosts! One of the coolest things that happened, was in the Sunday afternoon session. President Eyring talked about prophets and prayer and all sorts of things. What was amazing, was that our investigators who came to that session had questions. All of their questions were answered in that talk. It was awesome. So cool. OUR LEADERS ARE INSPIRED. Hey, you should all share a GenCon talk with a friend. That would help us out here a lot :) cool.
The last cool thing that happened this week. We had sometime on Sunday, so we went and looked up some people we had met with a long time ago. This girl answered the door and we talked for a very long time as to why she stopped investigating the church. She gave her reasons and talked about how she could not accept some of the things that the church used to do or some of the policies that it used to have. It was really cool, because I got to bear my testimony about the Book of Mormon and the Prophet Joseph Smith and how I know this church is true. I don't know everything, but I know that this is the true church. I don't know. It was a beautiful experience.
Well I love all of you so much. Have a great week and do good things!
Sok szeretettel,
Neely Elder.
I am doing pretty good :) My week has been pretty good. Basically, I have gone back to junior mode for a while, trying to get a hang of all this stuff. My new companion is awesome. His name is Elder Rae and he is super cool. I will be "killing" (missionary term) him as he goes home in November. Pretty crazy. But it is super cool, because he wants to go out with a bang and we will definitely be doing that :) There are approximately 23 missionaries in my Zone and my Zone covers Szeged, Bekescsaba, Kecskemet and Szolnok. It is pretty cool. We haven't traveled too much yet (except for that car ride from Hell that was getting out of Budapest), but we will starting this week. We have a trip to Buda planned and we also have to go on "Blitz's" to all of our Zone cities. That will be super fun, because that means I get to go to Kecskemet again! Yay! I don't have my international licence yet so I don't drive, but having a car is super weird. It makes time go by differently, like forreals. Super strange and sadly, no we do not have a Senior couple here in Szeged.
This week was a whole mix of emotions. That last night in Szekesfehervar was pretty sad. But at the same time happy? We said goodbye to all of our investigators. When we told "S" that I was leaving, we started crying. It was pretty emotional. Her little girl ask why I was leaving and she said, "My sweetie, Heavenly Father has called him to go somewhere else to help people like us. But don't worry, he'll come back sometime." By then I was kind of crying too.
The tripanionship was also hard to close down. We finished cleaning and packing and just kind of sat and talked for a long time. I am going to miss them so much. They are some of my favorite companions.
Transfers were pretty normal. I got to talk with a lot of people and that is always a good time. We eventually finished and life was good as Elder Rae and I went on to Szeged.
Szeged is super cool, even though I still have only seen a couple of parts of this town. That is another weird thing about having a car, I don't get to see as much of the city.
My first night here, we had a program with a kid. As soon as we went in I realized he looked SUPER familiar. So we started talking and he explains that he is actually from Kecsemet. Turns out that we actually tried to meet with him when I was serving there. Now he is an investigator here in Szeged. I LOVE HIM HE WILL BE MY FAVORITE.
The rest of the week was just full of cool investigators. They are all so cool, they just need to be members. Half of them practically are already.
This Sunday was a highlight. I sat by a super cool investigator at church, I went to Sunday School with the Youth and in Priesthood a random member from Eger played the piano with a very long intro AND outro for the hymn.
Life is good.
Well, my favorite scripture right now is John 15:16. Please read it, because it is so applicable to missionary work, but to our lives as well. We just have to remember that the Lord has chosen us.
I love you all so much.
sok szeretettel,
Neely Elder.
